The object's story and details
A fly sitting on a yellow hat gives form to the Romanian saying “to have a fly on your hat”, suggesting a guilty conscience. The papier-mâché picture is called “Vinovat”, completing the play between image and words.
The insect becomes the clue around which the whole scene is read. Hat and fly remain recognisable objects, while a saying about suspected guilt moves into a relief with direct humour.
Dimensions: 32 × 27 cm
