Opening night

The door is open.
The story continues.

On 24 September, we came together for the first time at Vechi ca Nou. People, objects with stories, and an evening around the blue door.

01 / Inside the workshop

We reclaim objects.
We work with what's already here.

In the workshop, we repair furniture and turn paper, wood and other reclaimed materials into objects that can be used again.

Reclaim.

We collect donated or discarded furniture, wood and other materials, then see what can be reused.

Repair.

We clean, strengthen and repair each piece, keeping the parts that are still in good condition.

Reimagine.

We turn reclaimed materials into furniture, lamps and art through sculpture, painting and papier-mâché.

The same object.
A new beginning.

02 A new life

Thonet / Wood and weaving

A new seat for an old chair.

The chair arrived at the workshop with a worn finish and a broken seat. Ioniță restored the wood and rewove the seat, keeping the chair's original shape.

The photographs show its original condition and the stages of the work.

03 / The person behind the objects

Reclaimed
by Ioniță.

It all began with Grandma's paintbrush, Dad's angle grinder and the habit of repairing things instead of throwing them away. Today, the story continues in a Bucharest workshop.

“Giving old furniture a new life brought a satisfaction that a fresh canvas never had.”

Every object passes through her hands. Sometimes it gets a name, an unexpected colour or a family story.

04 / From a found object to a loved one

How a new
story begins.

  1. Look closely

We assess the object's condition and what can be kept, repaired or reused.

  2. Work with what we have

We repair and prepare the materials for their next use.

  3. Give it character

We sculpt, paint or reupholster the piece, depending on its material and condition.

  4. Collect from the gallery

Choose your object, collect it from the gallery and make room for it in your life.

Have an object worth another chance?

Send us a few photos, its dimensions and location. We'll assess it together before deciding whether we can take it in.
