Dor installation

The Dor installation brings together six works: an elderly woman's portrait, an anatomical heart, a pig's head, a rooster's head, a tomato with cheese and a bundle of flax.

The pieces began with a diary entry I shared at the Ecouri și Lumini exhibition.

I miss the rooster at the far end of the yard and Grandma waiting by the gate when school was over. She would greet us with the first ripe tomato from the garden and sheep's cheese kept in brine.

Once you'd eaten the first tomato, you became responsible for the whole garden, and then the household. That's where I discovered how much I enjoy working with my hands. My first decorating project was the pigsty, whitewashed every year with my sister. Not a single pig complained.

I also miss Sundays spent by the roadside ditch with the village women. I'd lie with my head in the grass, trying not to fall asleep and miss their stories. Now and then I'd sit up and tease out some wool. Its smell, mixed with freshly cut grass and sweet cheese pastries, came back to me while I worked on these pieces.
